We look back in wonder at the signposts on the way We see your hand of mercy every moment of the day In the valley, through the night time, in the dark night of the soul The star still leads us onward, through the storm and through the cold Remember to remember, through the laughter, through the tears When moments turn to hours and the days turn into years From the sunrise to the starlight, from the manger to the grave Remember to remember, the baby comes to save. I follow to that stable to that ancient home of grace I lose myself in wonder feel your breath upon my face And the baby hands that reach out are the arms where I belong The star still leads us onward, in the darkness gives us song.

Easter Version. Christ is risen let the whole world say 'Hallelujah' let's be glad today He is living and he's here to stay Christ the Lord is risen today! Jesus loving meant he had to pay It looked as if the enemy had won the day But he came back the stone was rolled away Christ the Lord is risen today! Easter's a reminder to the world today Jesus brings to us the Father's way Love your neighbour sing and share and pray Christ the Lord is risen today! Christmas Version. Christ is born let the whole world say 'Hallelujah' let's be glad today He is living and he's here to stay Christ the Lord is born today! Star of Bethlehem, bring your light Show the world the king was born that night His love is forever makes our darkness bright Christ the Lord is born today! Jesus' birthday comes once a year Christmas reminds us that God is near His peace is for everyone so do not fear Christ the Lord is born today.

From the sky to the ground there's a promise all around See the rainbow Even when you're feeling blue the promise will be true See the rainbow From the east to the west, God's promise is the best When you're home or away, God's love is here to stay He's awake when you're asleep and he promises to keep you Safe in the arms...of the rainbow. Noah built a boat to keep himself afloat And the rain fell Day after day he sailed on the waves And the rain fell The animals were queasy and the children got uneasy But Noah sent a dove and the sun came out above The water stopped flowing and the wind started blowing And out from the clouds...came the rainbow.

Lord, you know me you see everything that I do Even my innermost thoughts are not hidden from you Your knowledge of me is so deep, you surround me on every side And before I open my mouth you know what I will say Where could I go to get away from your touch? Neither depths of the earth nor the heights of the heavens above For the whole universe cannot contain all your love. The east and the west are not far apart in your sight The night is not darkness to you your presence is light You're before me wherever I go, from behind you guide my path When I lay down to sleep you keep watch, when I wake I'm with you You shaped me and formed me long before I was born You alone understand all that I am Search every part of my mind, expose every thought that you find Cleanse me and help me to live for you all of my life
5.
Don't be quick to criticise your sister Don't lay the blame on your bro When you think there's a speck in someone else's eye There may be a log in your own. Don't look for wrong in another Remember that Jesus' words are true When you point a finger at somebody else There's always three pointing back at you... Don't try to suss out your sister Don't put a checklist on your bro The standards you place on someone else's life May be turned around on your own Let's look for good things in each other Let's find the best that we can find When we praise and encourage all the little things They'll grow into big things over time
6.
Our lives belong to you, Again we lay them in your hands We offer you ourselves, Our hopes, our fears, our dreams and plans Help us be thankful for each day As walking in your way of love Always to sing and share and pray Following the One you gave. Oh make each house a home, A place where each may grow to be The person that you want, Strong and kind and ready to see How to shoulder one another's loads And feel each others' pain and sorrow Making peace before the sun goes down Beginning new each morning again. In sickness and in health, We need your wholeness in our minds In weakness and in strength, Your life we always need to find Don't let us wander far from you If life becomes too hard or too easy Help us when doubt would pull apart Together to hold fast to you.

Alleluia 123 02:31
Alleluia 1 2 3 , Jesus died for you and me On the third day back he came Now he's here, he's here again With a 1 2 3, with a 1 2 3 He lives, he lives, he lives. I want to live my life for him I want to sing my songs fo him I want to thank him all the day long His love for us is mighty strong Ba boom ba boom boom boom Jesus loves me this I know For the Bible tells me so Little ones to him belong They are weak but he is strong With a 1 2 3 , with a 1 2 3 He loves, he loves, he loves Jesus loves me, he will stay Close beside me all the way And his arms he'll open wide Keep his children by his side With a 1 2 3 , with a 1 2 3 He loves, he loves, he loves

I will be your God, you will be my children I will never leave you, I will stay with you I will take you through the waters that would drown you Armies that surround you, I will give to you... A cloud by day and a fire by night I will guide you, I will be your light A cloud by day and a fire by night I will guide you, I will be your light. Take each day as one, don't worry for tomorrow I can take your sorrow, turn it into joy I have seen your heartache I have felt your heart break I have not forgotten every tear you've cried... I will shelter you, cover and protect you I will never let you wander far away I will care for you, give food when you are hungry Water when you're thirsty I'll provide for you...

I love the Lord for he heard my voice He turned his ear to my cry I will call on him as long as I live Our God is gracious and kind And what shall we give to the Lord In return for his goodness to us? We will drink your cup of salvation oh God And offer you our lives and praise. The Lord protects the helpless and poor He helps all those who are brought low Return to him as your resting place For the Lord has been good to you I believed in him even though I was crushed He delivered my soul from death My feet from falling, my eyes from tears I walk with him into life.

Arms of Love 02:05
Although the star shone down on his manger birth When he died the lights went out on planet earth The saddest day that's ever been The darkest night the world has ever seen And he felt such pain and he felt alone Like his friends had gone and he had no home But his arms reached out on either side The day that Jesus died. On the day that Jesus died Arms reached out on either side His arms of love are open wide.

Let's sing a song about Christmas time Sing it out from the land we love Where the fields are rolling and the mountains rise And the sun is high above Where cabbage trees welcome in the day And town and country come out to play Stand up and sing the Kiwiana Christmas Song! Do a haka, dance and sing Give our thanks to the baby King, Everything will be ka pai 'Cos Jesus love will never die We are the home of the silver fern The land of the long white cloud Red and yellow and black and white It's time to get down - be loud and proud Jesus came for everyone So come on Kiwis, both old and young Stand up and sing the Kiwiana Christmas Song! We are the people of the Southern Cross Together we share your grace Christmas reminds us that you are here In Te Papa - this is our place So let's join with Paul Holmes and say ** Indeed, those were our people today Stand up and sing the Kiwiana Christmas Song Stand up...and sing the Kiwiana Christmas song with me, ka pai! ** This is now dated. Paul Holmes was a NZ media icon, loved or not, but now passed away. He used to say this at the end of every show. You could replace it instead with something like 'So let's all stand together and say...' (or add your own take).

Far away islands and shores, forest and river meander Sunlight and raindrop you sing, earth and sky how you bring Breath of the mountains and snow, feeding all creatures below you On the horizon will rise, songs of hope before our eyes Land of the Long White Cloud Together we stand and sing it aloud From this small island home In the southern oceans that we call our own Aotearoa, Te Waipounamu Oranga te rā, i hi te ata (a new day dawning) Wandering plain, rocky bluff, blended mosaic of colour Tussock and fern-frond and bird, sweeter sound was never heard Starlight and moon guide our path, down through the ages and seasons Valley and peak, rolling waves, from coast to coast shout their praise
13.
We have journeyed together, we've travelled side by side Times of weakness, times of strength Time to laugh and time to cry And together we've shared the load, and kept along the way There's a voice, there's a hope that calls us carry on, Go out and build another day. There's a new challenge rising, new battles to be won Risks to embrace, struggles to share Old and new fears to overcome And there'll be times when the shadows fall And dawn seems far away there's a voice, there's a hope that calls us carry on Go out and build another day. In southern sunshine and through the snow and rain Through all the seasons and the tides We've learnt to carry on through laughter and through pain Something ventured, much more gained That's the way we grow..... We will welcome what lies ahead Remembering all that's past Giving thanks for the friendships made And for the memories that last And when we're facing uncertainty and cannot see the way There's a voice, there's a hope that calls us carry on Go out and build another day.

The impetus for this collection came from my home church in Mosgiel, Dunedin.
Most of the songs were written during the 20 year span our family lived on the Taieri, with the beloved Te Matamata/Saddle Hill on one side of us and the beautiful Maungatua peaks on the other. Our five children grew up there and it was an outrageously busy, happy and productive time in all our lives.
All of these songs were tried and tested in many different communities and at varied events… churches, schools, camps, shows, choirs, Easter, Christmas, child and youth gatherings. One was for a wedding in my extended whānau (Marriage Song) and another was commissioned for my Teachers’ College graduation (Build Another day).
I like to have songs that are broad enough to be tweaked for a variety of situations, so they don’t sit unused on the shelf. I can do it because I own the copyright! ‘Marriage Song’ has been adapted and used at baptisms, dedications and anniversaries. ‘Build Another Day’ has been sung at celebrations and even at funerals. Children graduating Year 6 in the school where I worked, sang it year after year, with beauty and emotion…and a
few tears! I am constantly surprised that my ‘grown-up people’ songs often hit the mark with child appeal…and vice versa.
I put this collection together because they are singable. The have been constantly used. They work! Four are lifted from my other albums. We added to that ‘use-ability’ by including the backing tracks (with the exception of Psalm 116). There is a songbook. I was stoked that my dear husband Selwyn, did the artwork for this. I love the way he captures ‘the journey’ with our old family photos and indigenous and Biblical images.
The project was funded by my home church and the Otago/Southland Synod. It was gifted to Presbyterian and co-operating parishes in Otago and Southland. All the profits from sales went to the building project at our church, ‘A Place of Welcome’. It’s a truly beautiful and well-resourced space used constantly by the church, community and beyond. A privilege to be part of.
Once again, Phil Yule at the Voice Box was my recording and production backbone, I played keyboards and guitar and Simon Lynch played amazing piano. And wonderfully, my niece, Nicola Yule Manoa played her flute. One of my on-going favourite things is singing my own backing vocals. I love to sing with me! So much fun…and so satisfying!!
I hope many can continue to find these songs useful.

From Fran Short.

I am glad to write about Natalie's music, especially her album 'Cloud and Fire'. These songs were really appreciated by many people in the Mosgiel-North Taieri Presbyterian Church, where for over twenty years Natalie contributed so much that was new to our music. And we continue to use and enjoy them today.
Her melodies and the words of her songs enable me to move into worship and sense the presence of God. I find that worshipping through music is the most helpful way for me to praise God.
'Cloud and Fire' has 13 beautiful songs which are easy to sing as a congregation, plus instrumental backing tracks so that churches or groups who do not have personnel to play music can have accompaniment provided. The songs are thoughtfully and prayerfully written, and those written with children in mind, are especially fun to sing. I am thankful to God for the gift of music and I am especially grateful for Natalie's music.
